Sowing Months Flowering Months
Feed and water sweet peas regularly throughout the growing season. When growing sweet peas it is essential to cut the flower stems frequently and deadhead faded blooms to prevent seedpods developing. This will encourage more blooms to be produced and extend the flowering period throughout summer.

Caution: Seeds are harmful if eaten.

Sow sweet pea seeds indoors in October for transplanting outdoors in spring, or direct sow outdoors from March to April.

In autumn, sow 3 seeds per 7.5cm (3") pot at a depth of 1cm (1/2") in free-draining, seed sowing compost. Place in a propagator or seal container inside a plastic bag at a temperature of 20-25C (68-77F) until germination which takes 10-21 days. Once germinated, grow sweet peas on in cooler conditions, before transferring to a cold frame for overwintering. Spring sowings can be made outdoors directly into drills at a depth of 2.5cm (1"), and a distance of 7.5cm (3") apart. Pinch out the growing points of each stem once the second pair of leaves has opened to encourage bushier growth.

In spring, plant out sweet peas at a distance of 23cm (9") apart in any well drained garden soil in full sun. Train the stems onto a suitable support such as trellis or a free standing climbing frame. Try using our sweet pea support rings to tie the stems to their growing supports while they become established.

Perfumed my Summer into Autumn 2015-11-14

I just love these, they bloomed outside well into October in our Devon garden. I experimented with planting in a stack of three pots of decreasing sizes which gave a lovely show and were easy to water & support with a bamboo wigwam. I shall certainly be doing the same next year - such a beautiful selection of colours and a few, cut daily, brought the scent of the garden into the house. Delightful.

T&M replied on 2015-11-16: Thank you very much for your review. I am very pleased that you have been happy with your purchase and thank you so much for taking the time to let us know. I hope we can continue to be of service to you in the future.

Lovely surprise! 2013-06-24

I bought this sweet pea last year and sowed the seeds in autumn. I planted them outside in April and they are thriving. To be honest, I didn't know what to expect as have never grown sweet peas before. But the colours and beautiful and they look elegant with very good fragrance. Will grow these again!

Just perfect... 2011-08-22

I'd say this is a good choice of Sweet Pea for somebody with a smaller garden, who doesn't have room to grow cordons of different colours . I planted the whole packet in 1 M square with a 6 foot wigwam of canes. I have every colour and type of sweet pea apart from dark blue . Very good fragrance, range of colour and lovely long stalks, make for perfect bouquets of cut flowers. Definitely to be recommended as a good mix of seeds .
