Sow seeds from March to April, thinly, 3mm (1/8in) deep in drills 30cm (12in) apart in well-cultivated soil which has been raked to a fine tilth. Water ground regularly, especially in dry periods. Seeds can also be sown outdoors in August to September for early summer flowering next year.
More Info When large enough to handle, thin out seedlings to 15cm (6in) apart.
Feed and water poppy plants frequently throughout the summer. Annual Poppies can be left to set seed and die back naturally, before discarding the plants on the compost heap. The fallen seed will germinate in the following year to provide a new display.
