Flowering Months
Polyanthus make colourful bedding plants, or grow them in containers and borders or in any fertile, moist, well drained soil. Choose a position in full sun or semi shade. During the winter, avoid over watering which may cause the plant to rot in cold conditions. Deadhead faded polyanthus flower stems throughout the flowering period to encourage more blooms to be produced.
Pot up Polyanthus plants and grow them on for transplanting at a later date. Grow plug plants in bright, frost-free conditions, watering sparingly until they are fully rooted in. When all risk of frost has passed, acclimatise polyanthus plants to outdoor conditions over 7 to 10 days, prior to planting out in their final positions.

Hardy Perennial 2011-06-23

I bought some of these last year and planted all 42 plugs in various places around my garden. All have done well and may be getting too big, but you can divide them in the autumn after a year or so growth. Very early flowering in a wide range of colours that really brighten up the dull winter days. Tip: remove the spent flowers and dead leaves on a regular basis to keep a healthy enviroment for the plant and promote new growth.
