Description

Pittosporum tenuifolium 'Gold Star' is a stunning evergreen shrub that captivates garden enthusiasts with its striking golden-yellow leaves, which are beautifully accented by dark green centers. This vibrant foliage not only adds a splash of color to outdoor spaces throughout the year but also serves as an excellent focal point in garden designs or as part of mixed borders. Its unique appearance makes it a popular choice for those looking to enhance the visual appeal of their landscapes.

The leaves of 'Gold Star' are ovate in shape and feature wavy edges, creating a dynamic texture that complements its vivid coloration. In late spring, the shrub produces small, fragrant flowers that are a deep maroon, adding another layer of interest to its overall presentation. This delightful combination of foliage and blooms makes Pittosporum tenuifolium 'Gold Star' a versatile addition to any garden, whether it’s a formal setting or a more casual arrangement.

This resilient shrub thrives in a variety of conditions, preferring full sun to partial shade and well-drained soil. It is particularly tolerant of coastal environments and urban pollution, making it an ideal choice for diverse planting situations. Hardy across the UK, it can endure temperatures as low as -15°C, ensuring its survival through colder months. To maintain its shape and promote a bushier growth habit, occasional pruning is recommended. When fully grown, 'Gold Star' can reach a height of approximately 200 cm (6.5 ft) and a spread of about 150 cm (5 ft), making it a substantial presence in any garden setting.
