Description
An eye-catching deciduous grass that produces fluffy, dark silvery-purple flower heads in late summer. The bottlebrush flowers are borne above an arching mound of slender green foliage that makes fabulous ground cover when planted en masse. Pennisetum alopecuroides 'Black Beauty' is a gently swaying grass that brings texture and movement to borders, and delivers superb late summer interest. Height and spread: 100cm (39").

Plant height and spread is seasonal therefore we list by pot size rather than a defined plant size. The height and spread of the plant delivered will vary depending on the season, meaning arrival images are an indication only.

1 x 12cm potted pennisetum plant (KB9849)

How to Grow
Plant Fountain Grass into garden borders in any fertile, light, well drained garden soil, in full sun.
More Info
Take care not to overwater as Pennisetum plants may rot in over-wet soils. Although plants are hardy, they will benefit from the added protection of a dry mulch of bark or straw to protect the crown of the plant over the winter. Once you have enjoyed the autumn and winter interest of this plant, you should cut back any dead foliage and faded flowers in the spring.
