Support pea plants with twiggy sticks, wire or netting as they grow, and use fine netting to protect pea crops from birds and pea moth damage. When growing peas, regular and thorough watering especially when in flower will improve crop yields. Harvest peas around 14 weeks after sowing when the pods have swollen. Regular picking will encourage further cropping.
Direct sow outdoors from March to June, once the soil has warmed. Choose a weed-free position on moist, fertile, well drained soil in full sun. Sow seed in flat bottomed drills at a distance of 5cm (2") apart, and 4cm (1 1/2") deep. Allow a distance of 75cm (30") between rows. For successional crops, sow peas every 10 days.

Reliable and great tasting 2013-04-26

Have tried many varieties of peas over the years but always come back to Kelvedon Wonder. These are a reliable and heavy cropping pea with a great taste, which can be sown for both early and later crops and they are also quite tolerant of my windy site provided adequate support is provided. These are a dwarf variety, however mine always grow considerably taller than the 18" that Thompson and Morgan state in their description so if you intend using canes for support I would go for something with extra height just in case.
