Description
Similar to the popular variety ‘Lane Roberts’, but slightly larger with a strong pyramidal habit. Like all Sweet Gum trees, Liquidambar styraciflua 'Thea' is grown for its breathtaking autumn colours. The bright green summer foliage turns to brilliant shades of crimson, scarlet and purple. This is a recent introduction from the Netherlands and makes a fine specimen tree for a large open space. Height: 25m (80’). Spread: 12m (40’).

Plant height and spread is seasonal therefore we list by pot size rather than a defined plant size. The height and spread of the plant delivered will vary depending on the season, meaning arrival images are an indication only.

How to Grow
Plant Liquidambar trees into any moist, fertile, well drained soil in sun or semi-shade. Although Liquidambar prefers a neutral to acid soil, it is lime-tolerant in chalky areas provided that it has sufficient depth of soil. For the best autumn colours, choose a position in full sun.
More Info
Feed and water regularly until fully established. Liquidambar will require very little pruning, however, damaged or misplaced shoots may be pruned out in winter or early spring while the tree is dormant.
