From a crown of stiffly upright, strappy, dark green leaves, rises a strong stem topped by an extraordinary torch-like, orange flower bract. Guzmania ‘Tala’ is a unique-looking houseplant that flowers for months. Its bold architectural silhouette and splash of tropical colour look right at home in modern interiors. Maximum height: 45 cm (18in). Spread: 30cm (12in).
Plant height and spread is seasonal therefore we list by pot size rather than a defined plant size. The height and spread of the plant delivered will vary depending on the season, meaning arrival images are an indication only.

Grow in bright indirect light but avoiding direct sunlight which can burn the leaves. Avoid overwatering which can cause the rosette to rot – always allow the potting mix to dry out between waterings. Ensure that the pot drains fully and never leave the plant to sit in water. This tropical epiphyte enjoys high humidity so mist frequently or place the pot in a pebble tray topped up with water. Fertilise with a small amount of bromeliad feed 3 or 4 times during the growing season. After flowering cut off the spent flower spike. New smaller plants will develop around the base which will flower in future seasons. Epiphytic plants require very little soil and so rarely need potting up.
