How to Grow
Grow sea holly plants on light, well drained soil in full sun. Eryngium plants particularly dislike cold, wet soil in winter which may cause the crown to rot. If planting on heavy soils, dig in plenty of coarse grit to improve drainage prior to planting.
More Info
Feed and water regularly throughout the growing season until plants are fully established. Leave faded eryngium flower heads in place until spring to benefit from the winter interest they will add to your borders. In cold wet soils, use a cloche to protect the crown of the plant from winter rainfall. Lift and divide overcrowded clumps of eryngium in spring. Only lift it when necessary as sea holly can be slow to re-establish.
