Description
Dicentra spectablis 'Alba' is a pure white form of Bleeding Heart that makes an elegant springtime display. From April to May the delicate blooms drip gracefully from arching stems above clumps of attractive, finely cut leaves. The ghostly blooms of this hardy perennial are perfect for illuminating woodlands and damp shadowy corners of the garden, but will look equally impressive in a shaded patio container. Height: 100cm (39in) Spread: 100cm (39in).

Plant height and spread is seasonal therefore we list by pot size rather than a defined plant size. The height and spread of the plant delivered will vary depending on the season, meaning arrival images are an indication only.

Eliminate the wait for your plants to mature with our XXL Bare Root Plant range. Planting these XXL clumps offers numerous advantages, particularly for achieving a quicker, more impactful and vibrant display, especially with varieties like Agapanthus, Geraniums or Peonies. These larger clumps, of established plants, provide immediate visual impact by having a well-developed robust root system and multiple green buds, all of which are individual plants which will spring to life once you plant them and work together to provide you with a stunning display from the first year of planting. They are also a great way to overcome the chance of losing younger plants to drought conditions as they are more mature and therefore drought-tolerant once planted.

How to Grow
Grow dicentra plants in well drained, reliably moist, fertile ground in partial or dappled-shade. Dicentra prefers a humus-rich, neutral or alkaline soil. Improve soil conditions by adding plenty of well-rotted manure or garden compost prior to planting.
More Info
In spring, apply a mulch of chipped bark or well-rotted garden compost to the base of the plant to help retain moisture in the soil during the growing season. Dicentras have particularly fragile roots and are best left undisturbed if possible. However, overcrowded clumps may be divided in late autumn or early spring if necessary.
