This spectacular, palm-like plant is actually an ancient Cycad and was once grazed by dinosaurs in the Jurassic jungle! Having been around for millions of years, Cycas revoluta makes a resilient houseplant which will survive some neglect. It’s famous for its dramatic, feathery fronds which erupt from a shaggy trunk, curving gracefully as they mature. In summer, plants can be brought outside to stand on a sunny patio. RHS Award of Garden Merit. Maximum height: 1.5m (60in). Spread: 60cm (24in).
Please note: all parts of this plant are toxic.
Plant height and spread is seasonal therefore we list by pot size rather than a defined plant size. The height and spread of the plant delivered will vary depending on the season, meaning arrival images are an indication only.

Grow in bright light – Cyas will however tolerate some direct sunlight and higher temperatures, which will promote good foliage growth. The plant can be moved outside during the summer. Although plants can tolerate low temperatures they need reliably warm summer temperatures of around 25C to produce new growth.
Provide high humidity by regular misting. Always water from the base of the plant rather than the crown to prevent root rot.
Cycas revoluta is slow growing: avoid over watering when the plant is not in active growth as this will cause root rot – it needs minimal water during these periods. New leaves are only produced during one-off growth breaks in the summer– when this happens don’t touch the emerging young fronds as these are fragile. Water more frequently during these periods and feed. Avoid cold draughts.
