Perfect for beginners! The Spider plant is one of the most commonly found house plants, not least because it is so easy to grow. The brightly variegated, strap-like foliage arches beautifully to create a lovely tumbling effect. As it grows, Chlorophytum comosum 'Variegatum' produces long, cascading stems with new baby plants at their tips, which dangle beneath the parent plant. With maturity, upward-facing stems of white star-shaped flowers are also produced. Perfect for a hanging basket or shelf where its stems can hang freely. Height and spread: 50cm (20").

Chlorophytum enjoys a brightly lit spot away from direct sunlight. Avoid the full glare of the sun, as this may bleach or scorch the foliage. Spider plants can cope in cooler temperatures down to 7C (45F) but prefer a warmer position of around 15C (60F) to 24C (75F).
More Info Water frequently to maintain evenly moist compost. Avoid leaving Chlorophytum in standing water as this may cause it to rot. In winter, reduce watering but do not allow the compost to dry out completely. House plants should be fed regularly between March and September when they are in active growth.
