Description
Who would have thought this exotic looking climber was related to the humble potato? The distinctive blooms give the game away - carried in starry, white clusters with yellow centres and a gentle fragrance. The slender stems can be trained onto trellis or wires to create a screen of dark green, semi-evergreen foliage. Solanum laxum 'Album' requires a sheltered, sunny spot and makes an excellent choice for an exotic planting scheme. Height and spread: 6m (19’).

Plant height and spread is seasonal therefore we list by pot size rather than a defined plant size. The height and spread of the plant delivered will vary depending on the season, meaning arrival images are an indication only.

1 x 3 litre potted solanum plant (KA0985)

How to Grow
Train Solanum against sturdy supports such as trellis or strong wires attached to walls and pergolas. Grow in a fertile, moist, free draining soil in a sunny position, preferably against a south-facing wall. When planting Solanum in poor soils, add plenty of well rotted manure or garden compost to improve the soil structure.
More Info
Feed and water regularly until established. Prune Solanum plants back to a pair of healthy buds after flowering, cutting shoots to within three or four buds of the permanent framework. Thin out overcrowded shoots. Apply a mulch of well rotted manure or garden compost to the base of the plant in spring. Caution: All parts are harmful if eaten.
