Description
This is a particularly eye-catching variety with chalky-blue foliage that retains its colour throughout the season. From July to August, the delicately scented, mauve pink flowers offer the perfect complement to the heart shaped foliage. In moist soils, this low growing hardy perennial forms dense ground cover. Hosta 'Fragrant Blue' is perfect for the front of borders, woodland planting schemes, or in the damp soil at the edge of ponds. Height: 50cm (20"). Spread: 100cm (39").

Culinary note: The best part to use is the 'hoston', the rolled up leaf as it emerges in the spring. Cooking depends on the size of the hostons, small ones can be fried for a few minutes, going well in stir fries. Thicker ones are better boiled and used as a vegetable. For more details about edible flowers click here.

Plant height and spread is seasonal therefore we list by pot size rather than a defined plant size. The height and spread of the plant delivered will vary depending on the season, meaning arrival images are an indication only.

How to Grow
Grow Hosta plants in sun or dappled shade, on rich, moist, well-drained soil. Before planting, work some fresh compost or general fertiliser into the top 20cm of the soil. Alternatively plant Hosta in patio containers in soil based compost such as John In???
More Info
In autumn, remove old foliage and apply a mulch of well rotted manure or garden compost to the base of the plant. Lift and divide Hosta plants in autumn every third year to maintain their vigour.
