This drought-defying little Geranium boasts both pretty pastel flowers and attractive foliage. Geranium sanguineum ‘Appleblossom’ is a low-growing, hardy geranium that is perfect for border edges, dry banks and rockeries. It forms low clumps of finely-divided leaves, making excellent groundcover. From late spring to summer, it bears a profusion of saucer-shaped, pale pink flowers with darker veins. The attractive foliage provides a second season of interest in the autumn when it takes on red tints. Geranium sanguineum ‘Appleblossom’ is ideal for a free-draining, sun-baked spot, performing just as well in patio pots as the border. Height: 20cm (8in). Spread: 45cm (18in).

These bareroot plants are lifted from the nursery field when dormant, and sent to you in late autumn or spring for planting. They often look dead on arrival, but they are just resting in the dormant period and will establish quickly for a strong start in the garden come spring.
Plant bareroots at the earliest opportunity following delivery. If conditions prevent immediate planting, set roughly into loose soil or a pot of compost (‘heeling in’) to protect the roots. The growth points of most bare root perennials should be set about an inch below the soil surface.
Plant Geranium sanguineum in any well drained soil, in sun. Water well to settle the soil around the roots. Water regularly during establishment phase. Plants are drought tolerant once fully established.
