This charming French captain is bound to catch your eye! An old French variety from 1918, it is still deservedly popular due to its large flowers and striking colour pattern.
Clematis ‘Souvenir Du Capitaine Thuilleaux’ boasts large, very pale pink flowers up to 12-15cm across. Each tepal is marked with a wide central band of deep mauve-pink creating a striking contrast that is most intense when grown in partial shade. The flowers are set against dark green foliage, edged with bronze. The large flowers are carried from May to September on a compact plant making it ideal for large containers as well as the border. Pruning group:2. Height: 1.8m (6ft). Spread: 1m (39in).

Feed and water frequently throughout the growing season. This variety of clematis flowers in summer on new stems which develop from the previous year’s growth. Pruning should be undertaken in spring before active growth begins. When pruning group 2 Clematis, aim to retain a strong framework of old wood whilst promoting new, vigorous growth. Remove any damaged or dead stems entirely before cutting back the remaining stems to a pair of healthy buds. In spring, apply a mulch of well rotted manure or garden compost to the base of the plant in order to protect the roots and conserve soil moisture. After the first flush of flowers, group 2 clematis can be lightly pruned again to promote a second, later flush of blooms.

Thompson & Morgan strives to ensure that all its plants are delivered to you in the perfect condition for planting. While the majority of our nursery plants cope well with slight delays in intransit, sadly, the time it takes to deliver to certain locations in the UK means that we can't guarantee this for some of our smaller plug products and tender bedding and vegetable lines, which do not respond well to the extra journey time. So regretfully while we offer the majority of our live plant offering nationwide, we are unable to ship plugs, begging plants and tender vegetable plants to the following areas: HS, IV41-IV49, IV51, IV55-56, KW15-KW17, PA34, PA41-48, PA60-PA78, PA80, PH40-PH44, TR21-TR24, ZE1-ZE3
