Description
A spectacular specimen plant that makes an impressive focal point for a sheltered spot or when grown in the conservatory. Chamaerops humilis 'Vulcano' produces a dense head of evergreen, fan-shaped leaves from its short trunk. The stiff corrugated, fronds have attractive silvery undersides that catch the eye. This is a slow growing, dwarf Fan Palm with a particularly compact habit, making it ideal for smaller spaces or as a majestic conservatory plant. With maturity Chamaerops humilis is surprisingly hardy outdoors, but will appreciate some winter protection while young. Height: 200cm (78"). Spread: 150cm (59").

1 x 22cm potted chamaerop plant (KB9223)

How to Grow
Best grown in a container or in a well sheltered border in fertile, well drained soil. Use a good quality compost soil based compost such as John Innes No.2 if planting in a container. Position in sun or semi-shade.
More Info
Feed and water regularly until established. Once mature, Fan Palms require less attention and can be drought tolerant. Mature plants can tolerate temperatures down to -12 C if the soil is well drained, however young plants will require some protection during the winter months.
