Description

A revolution in cauliflower breeding, Cauliflower ‘Whitex’ has the whitest curds of any variety. Clever hybridising means that the curds of ‘Whitex’ do not discolour in sunlight and there is no need to cover them. These are not self-covering cauliflowers, instead Cauliflower ‘Whitex’ is an upright plant with exposed curds and spreading foliage. This makes it easy to spot whether the curds are ready to harvest and quick to remove the leaves. Even after harvesting the curds are resistant to discolouring and will retain their bright whiteness whilst in storage. This early summer maturing variety also shows excellent hybrid vigour. Height:45cm (18”). Spread:60cm (24”).

How to Grow
Remove the plants from packaging immediately in receipt. Water if the compost is dry. Once planted water well to help settle the soil. Plant in a well-drained soil in a position where it can get plenty of sun. Plant 45cm (18”) between plants and then 60cm (24”) between rows. In its early stages ensure it is watered regularly to help prevent the formation of small heads. Bend the larger leaves over the head to protect from the sun and help prevent discolouration.
More Info
Water cauliflowers regularly and do not allow them to dry out as this may impair their development. Hoe between plants regularly to prevent weeds from establishing and bring insect larvae to the surface. Autumn cauliflowers can be harvested from late September when the curds are fully matured, and while they are still tight and firm. Culinary note: Cauliflowers freeze well.

Thompson & Morgan strives to ensure that all its plants are delivered to you in the perfect condition for planting. While the majority of our nursery plants cope well with slight delays in intransit, sadly, the time it takes to deliver to certain locations in the UK means that we can't guarantee this for some of our smaller plug products and tender bedding and vegetable lines, which do not respond well to the extra journey time. So regretfully while we offer the majority of our live plant offering nationwide, we are unable to ship plugs, begging plants and tender vegetable plants to the following areas: HS, IV41-IV49, IV51, IV55-56, KW15-KW17, PA34, PA41-48, PA60-PA78, PA80, PH40-PH44, TR21-TR24, ZE1-ZE3
