Description
A classic Japanese Maple with deep purple, finely cut foliage that has a delicate, lacy appearance. In spring, Acer palmatum 'Garnet' produces inconspicuous purple flowers that are followed by red, winged fruits in autumn. Over time this colourful Japanese Maple forms a spreading, deciduous tree or shrub. It makes a distinctive feature plant for Japanese gardens, rockeries or planted beside ponds, where it will cast beautiful reflections. Also grows well in a patio container making an excellent focal point for a sheltered position, protected for strong winds and the full blaze of the sun. Height: 2m (6’). Spread: 3m (10’).

Plant height and spread is seasonal therefore we list by pot size rather than a defined plant size. The height and spread of the plant delivered will vary depending on the season, meaning arrival images are an indication only.

How to Grow
Grow acer trees in any moist, fertile, well drained soil in sun or dappled shade, with shelter from strong winds which can scorch the finely cut leaves.
More Info
Water regularly throughout the growing season until acer trees are well established. Protect plants from strong winds. Acers require little pruning other than to maintain their shape. Lightly trim stems if necessary from late autumn to midwinter.
