Ribes 'Amour' is affectionately known as the ‘Love Plant’ and it’s easy to see why. A large plant, it is adorned with beautiful swathes of bright pink flowers that also have a lovely perfume. It is an ideal shrub for either large containers on a patio or in the garden border and having a good shape, it is easy to keep well-pruned. Height: 150cm (59"). Spread: 100cm (39"). Supplied in a 19cm pot, 30cm tall.

How to Grow

Grow Ribes in a sunny, in any well drained soil. Ribes odoratum will happily grow in a semi-shaded spot but may produce fewer flowers and berries. Prior to planting, incorporate plenty of well rotted manure or garden compost into the soil. Plant Flowering Currant shrubs at the same depth as they were planted in their pots. Backfill the planting hole and water well to settle the soil.

Water regularly throughout the growing season until young plants are fully established. In spring, apply a mulch of well rotted manure or garden compost to the base of the plant. Ribes requires little pruning. After flowering cut back stems to a healthy bud and remove a fifth of the old stems to ground level.
