This magnificent collection will fill your summer borders with colour, year after year. We've brought together a superb mix of well loved, easy to grow, herbaceous perennials. You'll receive 4 of each variety - more than enough to create bold groups! Plant them together to form a brand new perennial border or plug gaps in existing planting schemes. Wherever you grow them, you can be sure of a full and colourful display that will attract plenty of pollinating insects to the garden, with many of them making lovely cut flowers too.
  • Collection comprises 4 bare root plants each of:
  • Hollyhock 'Chater's Doubles' - These heirloom, cottage garden perennials are well loved for their towering stems of saucer shaped blooms which attract butterflies.
  • Eryngium alpinum(Sea Holly) - This stylish perennial, produces upright, blue stems, topped with dramatic thistle-like blooms.
  • Liatris spicata - Plumes of mauve florets make a colourful display in late summer, attracting clouds of bees and butterflies to the nectar rich flowers.
  • Physalis alkekengi var. franchetii (Chinese Lantern) - Grown for its edible berries which later develop within red, papery Chinese Lantern calyces.
  • Aquilegia 'McKana Hybrids' - Perfect for borders and shady woodland edges, and make exciting cut flowers for a vase indoors.
  • Echinacea purpurea (Cone Flower)- Robust perennials blooming over a long period, attracting bees and butterflies to their daisy-like flower heads.
  • Gypsophila repens 'Rosea' - A low, creeping plant that makes lovely ground cover for rockeries and gravel gardens.
  • Kniphofia 'Erecta' (Red Hot Poker) - Stiffly upright stems are topped with slender flower heads of upright facing, fiery orange blooms in late summer.
  • Lupin 'Russell Hybrids Mixed'- Ideal for adding height and structure to the back of perennial borders and woodland edges.
  • Platycodon grandiflorus 'Fuji Blue' - Rounded balloon-like buds open to reveal starry blue flowers in summer.

How to Grow
The herbaceous perennials in this collection can be grown in any moist, fertile soil, in sun or semi shade. Work some compost or general fertiliser into the top 20cm of the soil prior to planting. Please see individual varieties for more information.
More Info
In autumn, cut back the old foliage to ground level and apply a mulch of well rotted manure or garden compost to the base of the plants. Lift and divide overcrowded clumps of perennials in autumn to maintain their vigour.
