Description
Commonly known as the Foxglove Tree, this majestic deciduous tree makes a wonderful specimen for larger gardens. In late spring, Paulownia tomentosa is smothered with upright, purple flower spikes borne upon bare branches. The blooms attract pollinating insects and are reminiscent of Foxgloves, hence its common name. The large, heart-shaped leaves that follow form a broad canopy with each leaf measuring up to 25cm (10") long. This spectacular, fast growing tree tolerates hard pruning. It can be pollarded to keep it more compact and produce even larger leaves, however this is generally as the expense of the flowers. Height and spread: 12 m (39’).

Plant height and spread is seasonal therefore we list by pot size rather than a defined plant size. The height and spread of the plant delivered will vary depending on the season, meaning arrival images are an indication only.

How to Grow
Grow Paulownia in any moist, fertile, well drained soil. Choose a sheltered position in full sun.
More Info
Feed and water regularly until fully established. Young trees will require protection from hard frosts until they are well grown. Paulownia tolerates hard pruning and can be pollarded to create a multi-stemmed bush.
