Thompson & Morgan is delighted to work alongside the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew to offer special seed collections to home gardeners. Kew Wildflower Seeds have been specially selected by The Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew.
Meadowsweet is a hardy British native perennial often found growing in ditches and besides streams. Throughout summer, plumes of fluffy cream flowers sway on tall upright stems above aromatic foliage. The showy blooms are particularly attractive to butterflies and pollinating insects. Filipendula ulmaria is an excellent hardy perennial for growing in damp meadows, wildflower gardens, boggy areas and pond edges. Height: 90cm (36"). Spread: 60cm (24"). Planting depth: Zone 1 in reliably moist or boggy soil.

Sow February to June onto the surface of a good, free-draining, damp, seed compost. Cover with a very fine sprinkling of compost or vermiculite. Place sown container in a propagator or seal container inside a polythene bag at a temperature of 15-20C (59-68F). Do not exclude light as this helps germination. Transplant seedlings when large enough to handle into trays or 7.5cm (3in) pots. Gradually acclimatise young plants to cooler conditions for a few weeks before planting them in borders in sun or partial shade, in reliably moist, alkaline soils.
Alternatively sow direct outdoors into a well-prepared seed bed in autumn or spring. Gradually thin seedlings to roughly 30cm spacings.

Thompson & Morgan strives to ensure that all its plants are delivered to you in the perfect condition for planting. While the majority of our nursery plants cope well with slight delays in intransit, sadly, the time it takes to deliver to certain locations in the UK means that we can't guarantee this for some of our smaller plug products and tender bedding and vegetable lines, which do not respond well to the extra journey time. So regretfully while we offer the majority of our live plant offering nationwide, we are unable to ship plugs, begging plants and tender vegetable plants to the following areas: HS, IV41-IV49, IV51, IV55-56, KW15-KW17, PA34, PA41-48, PA60-PA78, PA80, PH40-PH44, TR21-TR24, ZE1-ZE3
