Description

Royal purple blooms with tawny gold and white falls makes a majestic display in early summer. These elegant flowers rise on tall, upright stems above neat clumps of slender, strappy foliage. The long stemmed blooms make superb cut flowers for summer bouquets.

Iris ‘Tropic Night’ is a striking hardy perennial for the back of herbaceous borders, or planted beside ponds where it provides lovely reflections in still water. Plant them in bold groups where the leaves will create a textural, grassy effect. Height: 120cm (48"). Spread: 90cm (36").

How to Grow
Iris sibirica enjoys a sunny position in well drained, neutral to slightly acid soil. These perennials prefer a free draining soil, so amend heavy clay soils with plenty of grit and well rotted manure prior to planting. When planting iris, ensure that the rhizome sits just at the soil surface as they are prone to rot if planted too deeply.
More Info
Overcrowded clumps of iris plants can be divided in late summer after flowering. Avoid mulching the rhizomes to prevent them from rotting over winter.
