Hypoestes phyllostachya is better known as the polka dot plant and it’s easy to see why. The vibrant red foliage is dotted and splashed with dark olive green, making a fabulous colour contrast. This tropical foliage plant has a spreading, bushy habit and makes a well-behaved houseplant – a fun and easy-to-grow option that’s perfect for beginners! For the best leaf colour, position polka dot plant in bright light, with protection from scorching hot sun. Height and spread: 30cm (12").

How to Grow

Grow Hypoestes in bright, filtered light, with protection from scorching sun. Low light levels can cause the foliage to revert to green so filtered light from a south or west facing window is preferable. This plant enjoys normal room temperatures of 18C (65F) - 24C (75F), and moderate humidity.
