Description
One of the later flowering varieties, this RHS AGM winning, deciduous shrub comes into flower when others are looking tired, featuring large, trumpet-shaped deep-pink flowers of 8cm (3in) across, with red centres from late summer to mid-autumn. The upright branches bear handsome, three lobed, dark-green leaves with an exotic feel to the entire plant, but is just at home in a herbaceous border as it is in a tropical-style garden. For Hibiscus syriacus 'Woodbridge' to flower well, we recommend planting in full sun and praying for a long hot summer to increase the flower yield! Height & Spread: 2.5m (8').

Culinary note: The flowers can be infused to make a mildly citrus flavoured tea. The petals can be cut and added to fruit salads too. For more details about edible flowers click here.

Plant height and spread is seasonal therefore we list by pot size rather than a defined plant size. The height and spread of the plant delivered will vary depending on the season, meaning arrival images are an indication only.

How to Grow
Grow Hibiscus on rich fertile, reliably moist, well drained soil, in full sun. When growing hibiscus plants in patio containers use a soil based compost, such as John Innes No.3.
More Info
Feed and water hibiscus regularly until fully established. Apply a dry mulch such as bark chips to the base if the plant in autumn to protect from winter cold. Prune hibiscus in late spring, removing any stems that have died back or been damaged over winter. Hibiscus are often one of the last shrubs in the garden to break bud, so be patient with plants that are slow to start into growth in spring - they may remain dormant until May!
