How to Grow
Hibiscus syriacus ‘Summer Ruffle’ not only delivers weeks of showy lilac flowers from mid-summer to autumn but also has attractive variegated foliage with creamy white margins, providing interest for an even longer season. Exotic-looking, but a cinch to grow, it makes a glamorous feature shrub for a patio pot or border, providing colour late in the season when other plants are looking tired. It looks equally at home in a cottage garden scheme or a tropical-themed border. The flowers attract a wealth of beneficial pollinators. Drought tolerant once established. Height: 150-200cm (59-78in). Spread: 100cm (39in).

Grow Hibiscus on rich fertile, reliably moist, well drained soil, in full sun. When growing hibiscus plants in patio containers use a soil based compost, such as John Innes No.3.
More Info Feed and water hibiscus regularly until fully established . Apply a dry mulch such as bark chips to the base if the plant in autumn to protect from winter cold. Prune hibiscus in late spring, removing any stems that have died back or been damaged over winter. Hibiscus are often one of the last shrubs in the garden to break bud, so be patient with plants that are slow to start into growth in spring – they may remain dormant until May!
