Flowering Months

This tall Helenium bears tawny yellow, daisy blooms with particularly narrow petals, perched upon upright, sturdy stems. Like all Sneezeworts, Helenium hoopesii makes a fabulous choice for adding a splash of colour to perennial borders. Flowering over a long period, from June right through to September, it makes a useful choice for providing late summer flowers and produces a rich source of nectar for pollinating insects. Plant it toward the middle of the border where it will blend effortlessly into cottage garden planting schemes. Height: 100cm (40"). Spread: 60cm (24").

How to Grow

Grow helenium plants in full sun. This hardy perennial prefers a soil that is rich in organic matter and reliably moist. Add plenty of well rotted manure or garden compost to the soil to improve its structure and fertility prior to planting.

Feed and water plants regularly until they are fully established. Deadhead faded helenium flowers to encourage more blooms to be produced. Divide overcrowded clumps of helenium in spring and apply a mulch of well rotted manure or garden compost to the base of the plant.
