Sowing
Sow from March-June or July-September for overwintering, whenever the land is vacant or there is an area which requires increased fertility. Scatter the seed over the soil surface and carefully rake in or alternatively sow thinly about 12mm (1/2in) deep, in narrow drills which are about 15cm (6in) apart.
How to Grow
Leave seedlings to grow to about 23cm (9in) and then dig in. Plants can be allowed to grow taller whereby their root system will draw up further minerals. Taller plants will need chopping up prior to digging in, but will provide increased bulky organic matter to the soil.
