Great for courgettes 2011-11-08
I tend to mix vegetables and flowers together to deter pests, so I put in marigolds around the sides and a courgette plant in the top. The courgettes then can hang over the side without dropping on the ground, put the bags by the back door for easy picking and fresh veg. Next year I will try a different mix. Works really well.
Space for flowers and veg 2011-08-23
I bought these mainly for my tomatoes as I thought it would be good to have some large containers that I can fold away flat for winter to save space. They are a good size holding over 10l of compost and the tomatoes are growing well. I planted lobelia in some of the holes to add a bit of colour but since they are standing against a wall most of the holes are empty. This can cause some challenges with watering since you can lose water from the empty holes. Maybe T&M would consider making a version without holes for us vegetable gardeners? I like the fact that they are tall and narrow taking up less floor space but allowing plenty of room if you want to optimise planting. The handles are sturdy and well attached, well able for the job if you wish to suspend the bag, although with weight of 10l+ of compost and the plants make sure your bracket is strong.
