How to Grow
These wonderful pot dahlias feature two-toned single flowers that deliver an abundance of colour from July to September for little effort. Dahlia ‘Summer Bees Duo’ are perfect for pots on patios, terraces and balconies or as long-flowering gap fillers for the front of the border.
Naturally vigorous with well-branched stems, they fill containers with dense canopies of flowers, guaranteeing bold displays for weeks. Their single flowers will also be appreciated by bees and other beneficial pollinators. Height: 50cm (20in). Spread: 35cm (14in).
Dahlia ‘Summer Bees Duo’ contains the following varieties:
- Dahlia ‘Summer Bees Purple Bicolor’ – Purple/magenta against a white ground with a yellow centre.
- Dahlia ‘Summer Bees Red Bicolor’ – Red against a white ground with a yellow centre.

Pot up Dahlia plants and grow them on in frost free conditions until large enough to plant outdoors. When all risk of frost has passed, gradually acclimatise dahlia plants to outdoor conditions over 7 to 10 days before planting out in beds, borders and containers. Choose a position in full sun on any rich fertile, moist, well drained soil.
More Info Feed and water dahlias regularly throughout the growing season. While dahlia plants are still young, pinch out the growing tip of each stem to encourage bushier growth and masses of flowers. Deadhead faded dahlia flowers to encourage more blooms to be produced. Bedding dahlia are generally grown as annuals, however dahlia tubers may be lifted in autumn and stored over winter in trays of peat or sand, in a cool but frost free position if required. They can be potted up the following spring.
