Description
The curious flowers of Cuphea ignea bring to mind the fiery glow and shape of tiny cigars. This neat little evergreen perennial makes a lovely pot plant for a bright, sunny window or conservatory. In summer, it can be moved outside as a patio table centrepiece! Surprisingly easy to grow, the Cigar Plant adds an exotic feel to your home and makes a fabulous talking point! Height and spread: 40cm (16").

1 packet (75 seeds) (KB5904)

Sowing

Sow seeds on the surface of a good, free-draining, damp, seed compost, then lightly cover to 3mm (1/8") deep with vermiculite or compost. Place container in a propagator or seal inside a polythene bag at a temperature of 18-20C (64-68F) until after germination which usually takes 10-15 days.

Transplant seedlings when large enough to handle, taking care not to damage the fragile roots, into 9cm (4") pots. When roots have filled these pots, set into final containers.

More Info
Grow on in a sunny or semi-shaded position. Feed and water Cuphea plants regularly throughout the growing season. Move plants to a warm indoor position by the end of summer, for overwintering in warm frost free conditions.
