Description

Feast on delicious blueberries throughout July and August with Blueberry 'Three Seasons Collection'. Comprising early, mid-season and late varieties, these berries will pollinate each other to produce the best results and maximum yields, providing fresh berries for weeks. As well as consuming them straight off the bush, we have also included crisp textured varieties that are ideal for freezing so you can continue to enjoy blueberries throughout the winter. Not only will you be rewarded with tasty fruits, but these blueberries also make attractive ornamental shrubs, with masses of sweetly-scented creamy white flowers in spring, followed by fiery foliage in the autumn.

Blueberry 'Three Seasons Collection' comprises the following varieties:

  • Blueberry ‘Earliblue’ - Early maturing variety producing large, light blue, sweetly flavoured berries from the beginning of July.
  • Blueberry ‘Bluegold’ - Mid to late season (late July- August). High-yielding, vigorous, upright bush bearing large clusters of dark blue, medium-sized berries. Very sweet flavour and a good shelf life. Golden autumn foliage and yellow stems.
  • Blueberry ‘Brigitta’ - A late-season variety producing large, light blue fruits on sturdy upright bushes that ripen towards the end of August. Firm, crisped-textured fruits ideal for freezing as well as eating fresh from the bush.

Self-fertile, but like all Blueberries they will produce their best crops if grown with another Blueberry to increase pollination.

Height: 1.8m (6ft). Spread 1.5m (5ft).

Estimated time to best yields: 28-32 months (16-20 months for 3l potted plant).

How to Grow
Blueberries require a well drained, acid soil in a sunny or semi shaded position. In areas where acid soil does not naturally occur, grow blueberry plants in patio containers using a mix of ericaceous compost and John Innes No. 3.
More Info
If possible, blueberries should be watered with rainwater because the lime contained in tap water will reduce the acidity in the soil over time. Blueberries will begin to produce fruit in their third year. As fruits begin to develop, cover the plants with netting to protect the berries from birds. From their third year, begin to prune out the oldest stems each autumn to promote new growth and maintain a healthy plant framework.
