Description

Exotic looking, star-shaped orange flowers with a central disc of yellow crown the feathery foliage of Bidens 'Red Yellow Centre'. Traditional varieties tend to become straggly as the growing season progresses, but this modern cultivar stays neat and compact all summer long. Its upright growth habit means that that baskets and containers will still look stunning right through to October. Height: 30cm (12"). Spread: 35cm (14").

Culinary note: The blossoms are commonly used in salads but also hold their flavour once cooked and can be added to a variety of dishes. For more details about edible flowers click here.

5 bidens jumbo plug plants (KC8600)

How to Grow
Pot up bidens plugs and grow them on in frost free conditions for transplanting at a later date. Pinch out the growing points while the plants are still small to encourage more stems. Regular pinching will create a shapely compact plant that is perfect for containers. When plants are well grown acclimatise them to outdoor conditions over 7 to 10 days prior to planting them in their final positions. Grow Bidens plants in containers, hanging baskets and borders in any well drained soil in full sun.
More Info
Feed and water bidens plants regularly. Cut back faded flower stems to encourage more flowers to be produced. Although bidens is generally grown as an annual, if containers are moved to a bright frost free position over winter, they be kept for the following year.
