Flowering Months

The Purple Osier, as it is commonly known, starts and finishes the year with bare, reddish-purple stems which stand out against a winter background beautifully. Salix purpurea 'Nana' is a smaller, more compact variety of this deciduous shrub that will produce silvery-yellow catkins on the stems before any leaves appear. Once the blue-green foliage starts to clothe this striking little willow, it will soon form a dense, compact shrub which can easily be pruned and shaped as required, or left alone to naturally form a "mound" of long, thin leaves. Ideal for beds and borders alike and also hardy enough to withstand coastal conditions. Height: 100cm (39"). Spread 150cm (59").

Grow Salix in a sunny or partially shaded position, in any well drained soil.
