Description
Photinia has long been popular with UK gardeners for its glossy evergreen foliage and colourful new growth. This exciting variety brings an interesting new twist! The young growth is a handsome copper-orange colour, turning to chocolate brown before it eventually matures to dark green. The leaves boasts a serrated edge that gives them a fabulous undulating appearance! In late spring, an profusion of white flowers add to its display. Photinia serratifolia 'Crunchy' makes a superb specimen shrub, or can be grown to superb effect as a dense hedge or screen. Height: 250cm (98"). Spread: 200cm (78").

How to Grow
Grow Photinia plants in a sunny or semi shaded position, in any moderately fertile, moist, well drained soil. In frost prone areas, plant Photinia next to a warm wall or in the shelter of other shrubs. Prior to planting, incorporate plenty of well rotted manure or garden compost into the soil. Plant Photinia shrubs at the same depth as they were planted in their pots. Backfill the planting hole and water well to settle the soil.
More Info
Water regularly throughout the growing season until young plants are fully established. In spring, apply a mulch of well rotted manure or garden compost to the base of the plant. Once established, Photinia requires only occasional attention, removing any damaged stems and lightly trimming those that spoil the shape of the plant in summer after flowering. If grown as a hedge, it can be trimmed up to 3 times a year, from late spring through to mid-August.
