The quintessential cottage garden plant, Digitalis ‘Dalmatian Rose’ blends effortlessly into pastel schemes with its soft pink flowers, speckled with burgundy inside the throat. Thanks to their uniform branching habit, these statuesque foxgloves are loaded with flowers and stand up beautifully both in the border or planted as annual bedding in containers. These short-lived perennials will happily seed about to create dramatic drifts and attract wildlife to their nectar-rich flowers. Better still, unlike other foxgloves, seedlings will flower in their first year. Unsurprisingly, Digital ‘Dalmation Rose’ has been recognised with an RHS award of Garden Merit. Height: 50cm (20"). How to Grow

When all risk of frost has passed, acclimatise plants to outdoor conditions over a period of 7 to 10 days, before planting them in borders and containers in sun or partial shade. Although foxgloves prefer a fertile, moist soil, they will happily tolerate almost any soil except those that are excessively dry or waterlogged.

Water foxglove plants regularly until fully established. Foxgloves self-seed freely. If seedlings are not wanted, deadhead stems of foxglove flowers as the blooms fade. In autumn, cut back old stems to encourage plenty of new side shoots. Caution: irritant to skin and eyes, toxic if eaten.
