Description

A beautiful, evergreen, ground-covering fern for moist, acid soils. Blechnum penna-marina slowly forms mats of delicate finger-like fronds that emerge in shades of pink, bronze and red before maturing to fresh green. Lovely paired with the young bronze foliage of Epimedium 'Frohnleiten'. This useful plant will even tolerate full shade. RHS Award of Garden Merit. Height and spread: 30cm (12in).

How to Grow
Plant in partial to full shade in fertile, moist, acid soil. Ferns prefer a soil that is rich in organic matter so add some well rotted manure or garden compost to the soil prior to planting.

Feed and water ferns regularly until they are fully established. Leave old fronds on over winter to protect the crown. Apply a mulch of well rotted manure or garden compost around each plant in spring.
