Flowering Months

Named for its dark, green- black foliage which makes the perfect backdrop for the spidery white flowers. Aster novi-belgii 'Lady in Black' is less showy than many cultivars, but no less floriferous. A myriad of delicate blooms appear from late summer, lasting well into autumn. Like all Michaelmas Daisies, it provides a valuable source of late-season nectar for pollinating insects. A charming hardy perennial for the middle of borders, where it will benefit from staking to support its stems. Height: 90cm (36”). Spread: 50cm (20”).

How to Grow

Plant Michaelmas Daisy plants into fertile, moist, well drained soil, and situate them in full sun or semi shade. Add plenty of well rotted manure or garden compost to the soil prior to planting.

Feed and water frequently throughout the summer to ensure an endless supply of flowers. Deadhead faded aster flowers to encourage more blooms to be produced.
