Sowing
Direct sow annual flower seeds outdoors where they are to grow from March to June in full sun, on any well-drained soil which has been raked to a fine tilth. Sprinkle seeds thinly over the soil surface and lightly rake the soil to ensure the seed is just covered. Alternatively, sow seeds thinly at a depth of 1.5mm (1/16") in drills spaced 30cm (12") apart. Water the ground regularly, especially during dry periods. Germination usually takes 14-21 days. When seedlings are large enough to handle, thin them out to 25cm (10") apart.
More Info
Water regularly until annual plants become fully established. Place twiggy sticks among the seedlings while they are 10cm (4") high and allow the plants to grow through them for support. Remove spent flowers regularly to encourage further blooming.
