Grow sweetcorn plants in a sheltered position in full sun, on fertile, reliably moist, well drained soil that has been deeply dug. Prepare the soil in early spring by adding plenty of well rotted farmyard manure to the soil to improve its structure and fertility. Sweetcorn is wind pollinated and should grown in large blocks to assist pollination. Plant sweetcorn at a distance of 35cm (14") apart, leaving 60cm (24") between each row, to form a large block. Water the plants thoroughly after planting.
