Description
Turn your conservatory into a tropical paradise with this impressive and showy plant. Strelitzia reginae is commonly called the Bird of Paradise Plant for its exotic flower heads that resemble a brightly coloured bird. The tall blooms rise on vertical stems up to 1.8m (6’) tall and last an incredibly long time! The large, grey-green leaves are reminiscent of banana leaves, forming a handsome plant even when not in flower. A majestic and unmistakable feature plant for the conservatory which can be enjoyed on the patio during the summer months. Height: 180cm (71"). Spread: 100cm (39").

Plant height and spread is seasonal therefore we list by pot size rather than a defined plant size. The height and spread of the plant delivered will vary depending on the season, meaning arrival images are an indication only.

Please note: Some houseplants are toxic or harmful to pets if ingested. If you believe your pet has consumed a poisonous plant then seek veterinary attention immediately. Take a sample of the plant with you.

How to Grow
Strelitzia needs careful placement if it is to thrive indoors. Bright light, away from the direct glare of the sun is essential. Position it in a warm room with a temperature between 21C (70F) and 32C 90F during summer. Winter temperatures can be lower, but should not fall below 13C (55F).
More Info
Water frequently during summer to maintain evenly moist compost. In winter, water sparingly, allowing the compost to dry out between waterings. Avoid leaving Strelitzia in standing water as this may cause it to rot. House plants should be fed regularly between March and September when they are in active growth. Strelitzia will benefit from regular misting to increase humidity and prevent the leaf edges drying out.
