Description
Scilla peruviana is the kind of bulb that will always attract attention! Large heads of up to 100 indigo-blue, star shaped flowers, form dramatic conical domes from May to June. The foliage is semi evergreen, emerging in autumn and only dying back towards late summer when the bulbs have a dry, dormant period. By autumn, new growth emerges to fill the gaps left by fading summer perennials. Portuguese Squill makes a superb choice for patio containers, rockeries and dotting throughout the front of borders. Height: 30cm (12"). Spread: 10cm (4").

How to Grow
Scilla peruviana bulbs can be planted from late summer to early autumn. Choose a sunny or semi shaded site on rich-fertile, well drained soil and plant them so that the tip of the bulb sits just below the soil surface.
More Info
Scilla peruviana bulbs require little maintenance but must be allowed to die back naturally after flowering, in order to feed the bulb for the following year. They require a dry, dormant period for about a month after dying back in summer. Avoid watering during this period.
