Flowering Months
Feed and water salpiglossis plants regularly, particularly during hot, dry periods. If necessary, stake the stems with garden canes or twiggy brushwood. Regular deadheading of salpiglossis flowers will encourage further blooms to be produced throughout the summer.
Pot up salpiglossis plants and grow them on in warm frost-free conditions for transplanting later on. Pinch out the growing tip of each stem to encourage branching and form a bushier plant which will produce more flowers later on. When all risk of frost has passed, gradually acclimatise them to outdoor conditions over a period of 7 to 10 days, before transplanting them outdoors into beds, borders and containers. Salpiglossis plants prefer a moist, fertile, well drained soil, and will appreciate the addition of plenty of organic matter prior to planting. Choose a position in full sun, and sheltered from strong winds.

Great flowers 2013-10-09

Lovely colours and so many people commented on how lovely they looked. Will definitely have them again next year

So Many Flowers With A Wonderful Colour Range 2012-08-14

This is my first year of growing these beautiful plants and I'm really pleased that I took a friend's advice to try them. Although this flower is new to me I'll definitely be using them again. Each plant is covered in large, striking blooms with colours of such interesting combinations. Despite being so easy to grow they have proved to be a real talking point amongst visitors to my garden.

Exotic but Not! 2011-11-25

Not grown Salpiglossis for some years but gave them a try this year. Much improved and now withstanding our summer weather which can be wet/dry. In fact, they even withstood the high winds we have in my part of the world. Exotic looking trumpet flowers, velvet to the touch in many shades, including very dark red, near black. Constant bloomer and adding much colour to the garden.

First time of growing Wonderful, beautiful colours I gave some to a couple of mates and they want more ! They will have to order their own Im not giving up mine!

A complete joy.... 2011-06-25

Salpiglossis have been a complete joy to have in my garden, lots of flowers in amazing colours, and have bloomed all summer long, everyone should have these in their garden, they are easy to grow and they've been the perfect bedding plant, I'll certainly be growing them again next year!
