Supplied as high quality bare root plants they will flower throughout summer and get better every year.
This collection comprises 1 bare root plant each of the following varieties.
Rose 'Blue Eyes' - This astonishing repeat-flowering Floribunda rose is a breeding breakthrough, and highly sought after for its unusual colouring. The abundant clusters of wide, delicate-pink blooms are each decorated with an exquisite mauve-blue centre blotch and a beautiful, sweet fragrance. Rose 'Blue Eyes' has good disease resistance and a short bushy habit that makes it ideal for planting in containers or borders for a head-turning display. Height: 120cm (47"). Spread: 90cm (35").
Rose 'Eye of the Tiger' - This rose joins a growing group of modern roses favoured for their simple open flowers with strong central eye that combine the essence of wild roses with modern disease resistance and stronger vigour. The semi double, apricot yellow blooms are splashed with red at their centre for a particularly attractive display throughout summer. For the perfect mini climber grow in a patio pot and train the compact stems up short supports. Height and spread: 90cm (36").
Companion planting: Try growing roses with garlic, chives, thyme or mint to help deter aphids and blackfly.
2 bare root rose plants (1 of each variety) (T73662P)
Feed and water rose plants regularly and deadhead faded flowers. When growing roses it is necessary to remove any suckers that arise from the base of the plant, below the graft union. In late winter, begin pruning roses by removing dead and diseased wood, and any rubbing or damaged branches. Then reduce strong young stems by up to a third of their length. Side shoots should be reduced to two buds. Apply a mulch of well rotted manure or compost to the base of the plant after pruning.
Your bare roots should be planted at the earliest opportunity following delivery. Once planted, they will remain in their dormant state until the spring. Above ground you won't see much happening over the winter, but the roots will be establishing ready for your roses to grow away quickly once the warmer weather arrives. To avoid the risk from the build-up of harmful soil organisms and disease, choose an open position in full sun that has not been planted with roses in recent years. Roses enjoy a rich, fertile, well drained soil. Dig in plenty of well rotted manure or garden compost to the soil prior to planting roses and add a small handful of granular fertiliser to the planting hole.
