Description

Let the dazzling, colour changing blooms of Primrose 'Sweet 16' entrance you. Each large flower open white and deepens to rosy pink with a delicate white outer edge. As the flowers mature, they gently fade to softest blush pink. All this, above a rosette of bright green leaves that make superb ground cover. This hardy, robust perennial boasts plenty of F1 vigour, ensuring a fabulous display in beds, borders and containers that will welcome the spring to your garden. Height and spread: 20cm (8").

Culinary note: Some parts of these flowers are edible. Try the sweet tasting petals on top of salads or even pancakes, crystallise them for use as cake decorations too. For more details about edible flowers click here.

How to Grow
Pot up primula plants and grow them on in bright, frost-free conditions, watering sparingly until they are fully rooted in. When they are well grown, acclimatise plants to outdoor conditions over 7 to 10 days, prior to planting out in their final positions in borders and containers. Choose a semi-shaded position on rich, fertile, moist, well drained soil. Candelabra primula will also thrive in a peaty, acid soil and can also tolerate a position in full sun if the soil remains reliably moist.
More Info
Water regularly during hot, dry periods to prevent the soil from drying out. Deadhead faded primula flowers to encourage more blooms to be produced. Divide over-crowded clumps between late autumn and early spring.
