After flowering the foliage will yellow and begin to die. Once it has completely died off, prune it back to an inch above the soil line and prepare the bulb for dormancy. Place the bulbs in a dry, dark location at a temperature of around 10°C (50°F). When the foliage starts to re-emerge in spring, begin to fertilise and gradually increase watering, always allowing the top third of the plant to dry out between waterings.

Plants can be propagated by removing bulb offsets at the start of spring and planting them into small pots of cactus compost.
