The innovative Fruit Me® series offers a range of self-fertile fruit and nut trees, grafted onto a brand new dwarf rootstock. These compact mini fruit trees are specially adapted for growing in patio containers over a long period, producing good crops from an early age. Perfect for balconies, terraces, conservatories and small gardens – in fact, anywhere that space is at a premium.
Nut Me® ‘Almond’ uses the productive variety ‘Avijor’ which produces good crops of high quality almonds, for harvesting at the end of August. The pretty pink blossom in spring makes this an attractive container plant too. With excellent cold tolerance, this compact, branching patio tree is ideal for a sunny, sheltered spot.
This variety is self-fertile and does not require a pollination partner.
Estimated time to cropping once planted: 2 years.
Estimated time to best yields: 4 years.
Plant height and spread is seasonal therefore we list by pot size rather than a defined plant size. The height and spread of the plant delivered will vary depending on the season, meaning arrival images are an indication only.

Feed and water patio almond trees regularly throughout the growing season. Fruit and nut trees do not suffer weed competition well so keep containers free of weeds. If growing sweet almond in the ground, keep grass and weeds clear from within a 30cm radius of the base of the tree. To improve fruiting, move almond trees in containers to a cool, bright, frost-free position in the autumn, keeping the compost just moist. Top-dress almond trees in containers each spring with a slow-release fruit fertiliser. For almonds grown in the ground, remove any suckers at ground level in spring, and apply a mulch of well rotted manure or garden compost to the base of the tree. This will help to retain moisture throughout the summer. Almond blossom is particularly susceptible to frost and may require protecting with a layer of horticultural fleece if grown outside.
Like all members of the Prunus family, the almond tree should only be pruned in summer to avoid the risk of bacterial infection. Almonds fruit on one year old wood. They require little pruning other than the occasional removal of any damaged or crowded branches. However should fruits become bitter, then more frequent pruning is required to encourage new leaf growth which will help to dissipate the chemicals which cause this bitterness, thereby preventing the fruits becoming bitter.
