Lingonberry 'Miss Cherry' produces generous clusters of bright red fruits from September that are similar to a cranberry. The berries have a sharp, tart flavour that brings an excellent acidity to preserves, sauces and pies. Lingonberries, or Cowberries as they are sometimes known, show superb hardiness and disease resistance. This dwarf evergreen shrub has a low, spreading habit creating excellent ground cover at the front of borders. Attractive spring flowers and brightly coloured autumn fruits make this self fertile shrub both productive and ornamental. A superb choice for a moist, acid soil! Height: 40cm (16"). Spread: to 75cm (30").

Plant height and spread is seasonal therefore we list by pot size rather than a defined plant size. The height and spread of the plant delivered will vary depending on the season, meaning arrival images are an indication only.

How to Grow
Lingonberry plants require a well drained, acid soil in a sunny or semi shaded position. When growing lingonberry plants in areas where acid soil does not naturally occur, try planting them in patio containers using a mix of ericaceous compost and John Innes No. 3.
More Info
If possible, lingonberry bushes should be watered with rainwater because the lime contained in tap water will reduce the acidity in the soil over time. However, they are surprisingly drought tolerant and dislike being overwatered. As fruits begin to develop, cover the plants with netting to protect the berries from birds. Lingonberries require little pruning except for the occasional removal of damaged or misplaced shoots. Culinary note: Lingonberries are high in vitamins and nutrients. They can be used to make excellent jams, sauces and pies.
