Description
Mulberry’s make majestic trees that create a fabulous and productive focal point for a larger garden. This King White Mulberry has the advantage that its fruits won’t stain your hands. The tapered fruits reach up to 10cm (4”) long and gradually ripen from green to white and eventually almost translucent when they are ready to pick. The fully ripened fruits are deliciously sweet, with a mouth-watering honey flavour. King White Mulberry forms an attractive spreading specimen tree with maturity, Height: 10m (32'). Spread: 12m (39').

Plant height and spread is seasonal therefore we list by pot size rather than a defined plant size. The height and spread of the plant delivered will vary depending on the season, meaning arrival images are an indication only.

How to Grow
Grow mulberry trees in moist, slightly acid soil in a sheltered position in full sun. Prior to planting, incorporate plenty of well rotted manure or garden compost into the soil, and drive a stake into the planting hole to support the tree once it is planted. Plant mulberries at the same soil level as they were growing at the nursery, and use a tree tie to fasten the tree to the stake.
More Info

Fruit and nut trees do not suffer weed competition well, so keep weeds and grass clear from within a 30cm radius of base of the tree. In spring, apply a mulch of well rotted manure or garden compost to the base of the tree. This will help to retain moisture throughout the summer. Mulberries can be slow to break bud in the spring so frost damage to flowers rarely occurs. Water mulberry trees well during particularly dry periods.

Mulberries should be allowed to develop naturally, removing only the occasional misplaced or damaged stem. Unwanted laterals on the main stem can be shortened in the first year and removed in the second year to leave a clear stem. Prune mulberries only while dormant in winter to prevent excessive bleeding of sap.
